Drumkit Setup In Urgent Care Clinic? Hmmm…Sadly, Not Doing Well.

Help me give my students the Alesis Nitro Max Electric Drumkit to tap into their mind power through self-directed exploration, and experience the value of steady pulse and complex rhythms without interrupting the entire school with loud banging.

My Project

Its calling grows increasingly stronger with every new school year. I can meet it in the middle, but it never works out. It is loud. It is wild. To tame it takes great control. To gain control one must not think about what others are thinking as we learn to perfect our sound and work through mistakes. We want to play the drums. We wish we could sit at the throne, and jam perfectly to our favorite songs.

Unfortunately, fear of others hearing our irregular rhythms keeps us from experiencing the positive wellness powers the drumset can offer.

My school is small. No sound proofed walls. Thin drop ceiling tiles. Hard concrete flooring. Sound reverberates off everything and its collected echoes ring forever. This building would better be suited as a Walk-in health care clinic like Urgent Care. Teachers are running to me requesting that I “STOP THIS NOISE!” There are no practice rooms. No opportunity to make mistakes and work them out. I setup acoustic drumkits with muted pads in my classroom every year. This building amplifies every mistake.

By digitally controlling the volume output, The Alesis Nitro Max Kit Electric Drum Set with Quiet Mesh Pads, volume control and headset connection will open an opportunity to connect my students to the powers of rhythm and steady pulse. With the Alesis electronic drums, I can encourage my students to work on their physical needs of controlling arms and legs, strengthen fine motor skills, open cross lateral movement, while enhancing whole-brain thinking as their left and right hemispheres work together. In addition, the Alesis Nitro Max will connect to our existing DAW workstation we use daily for recording artists and original compositions. The best part…I can protect my student’s experience because no one else will hear them practicing, but me!
