This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My percussion students see me at most 2 times a week for 40 minutes. In order for them to be successful they need to be able to practice both in school with me and at home when they don't see me. In order for them to continue their learning and expanding their knowledge they need access to practice at home.
My students come from low income families and qualify for free lunch.
They won't be able to afford their own drums or practice pads on their own.
The practice pads are standard practice pads that are durable and should last for a couple of years. The pads mimic the exact properties of a standard snare drum. I would store these drum pads in my office and lend them out to my students so that they can practice at home. These drums pads will last for years and be passed down from class to class so that all percussionists have a way of practicing at home.
