Drug Use and Abuse Prevention

My students need a DUI DVD, alcoholic replicas, and fatal vision goggles to help them better understand the dangers of drugs and alcohol and how it effects their sight, senses and ability to drive.

My Students

I teach high school health in a multi-culturally diverse populated and socioeconomically disadvantaged neighborhood. I have kids from all walks of life, mostly African-American, Caucasian and Hispanic. We are starting a project-based curriculum and it is my job to give my students a more hands-on approach to learning health and actually taking part in health-related practices to give them a better understand of health and how it affects their lives today and how it will impact them as they enter adulthood.

My Project

My students need hands-on materials to learn more about the use and abuse of drugs and alcohol.

A DUI DVD can show them how dangerous driving under the influence can be and how it can also be fatal.

They need 3-D models of alcohol to see and compare how strong each individual type of alcohol is by amount.

They need the fatal vision goggles to show them how difficult it is to focus and see when they are impaired by alcohol consumption.

I want my students to understand what they are going to be experiencing if they choose to make the wrong choices.
