Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach kindergarten to some of the hardest working five and six year olds around! They love to learn and get their hands dirty. My students live in an extremely low-income area which often limits their exposure to life experiences. Because of this, I try to bring as many real-life discoveries into our classroom that I can. My students take on every challenge head-on and would love to have a science-based classroom!
My students work really hard to achieve our classroom goals, I want to make sure they have everything they need to be successful.
That includes having the support and resources they need to help them build their love for fitness and education!
My Project
My students and I would like to request comfortable places to work! My students'favorite place in our classroom is our library. Thanks to incredible donors from previous projects, I have an incredible variety of books! The kids will go to our library and sit in our wiggle seats or rocking chairs, but I would like to really make this library feel like home and add a big cozy couch!
I believe that the more comfortable the kids are, the more they will enjoy reading!
I would also like to request a book display, to showcase different books for my students. This way I can suggest certain books, without taking away their choice. I would also like to get lap desks for students who prefer working on the ground instead of their desks. This way, if they are reading a book and writing at the same time, they have a hard surface to work with. Lastly, I would like to request rechargeable batteries. My kids have some personal CD players to listen to book on CD at home. Unfortunately, batteries are expensive and I have struggled to keep new batteries in these. To encourage more reading at home, I would like to request the rechargeable batteries and keep our love for learning to read strong! Thank you for your consideration!
