My Project
Environmental science has evolved since the time I was in school. It has moved beyond understanding the environment we're around and towards becoming stewards of human effects on the environment. Observations are an integral part of every science and environmental science is no different. One of the pivotal labs that students do is a field survey. Students set up quadrats and survey the flora around our large campus. An important component of this field study is a GIS survey of the landscape. This is done with a photo drone, of which we have three, piloted by our most adept student photographers. Before students use the large tool, they are trained on miniature drones inside however, we only have enough for each group to work with one drone.
Help give my students enough drones for every pair of students to work together.
This project would ensure that every 2, instead of every 5, students will have their own drone to practice on. This will provide opportunity for increase proficiency amongst our students in this novel technology.
