My Students
Our students are all special needs, ages 3-21. They enjoy things all students enjoy,hanging out with their friends, listening to music, all types of books, going new places and seeing new things. However, it can be difficult for our families and students to find time to visit the public library. Our team is made up of the Related Arts teachers and we try to have fun, while introducing students to art, PE, music and library!
Our students LOVE books, of all kinds; we read everything and discuss what impact different stories have at different times in our lives.
As we grow up, we may find very different meaning in a childhood classic. We love books with students who look like us, but sometimes it is hard to borrow books from the public library, sometimes we aren't very quiet or still...this can make it difficult for our whole family to go to the library. Ms. Marjo wants all of our families, our whole family to be able to access to books all the time; before school, after school, and in the summer.
My Project
The MTS Little Free Library will allow our families access to books of all types and for all families members. Anyone can borrow a book and take it home. Since all of our students are special needs, we have a large number learning from home, this Little Free Library would provide a way for parents, siblings, students to have access to books and not feel pressured to return them in a certain time frame.
We want this to be a good place for our parents to meet and greet with each other during pick up, (at a safe distance, of course) and find a new read!
