Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
2nd grade students need manipulatives to help them work with place value. Addition and subtraction with three digits for students at this age can be very confusing and it's a necessary skill to learn while at this grade level. If they do not have number sense then they will fall further behind in each succeeding grade level as the number range increases. The manipulative sets requested will make a difference in their learning because they will have something hands-on to talk about and process in their minds. The water bottles will help students go directly to their desk to start learning after recess so that they do not need to wait for their drink while they are starting their math lessons. I'd like them to start "drinking numbers" and be ready for complex math and financial management in their future!
