Dried Up Markers Cause Frustration at the Academy of Arts

Help me give my students markers and colored pencils that aren't dried up and broken. Our school is an art school and we only have 3 black markers that aren't dried up.

FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Bazeley's classroom raised $180

My Students

I started with these students in the 6th grade and loved them so much I decided to move up to 7th grade with them. The students endured a rigorous year of me trying to inspire them to be the best version of themselves whether or not they loved school. My students and I were awarded the most growth in English and Math in the entire school district. Needless to say, these students worked extremely hard! I want to inspire them to keep that growth going by rewarding them throughout the year.

"I always thought a great teacher was a fun teacher.

But Ms. Clark you’ve helped me realize that a great teacher pushes you to succeed even when you don’t want them to, that a great teacher is hard on you because they want the best for you." - quoted from a student.

What makes my students so special is the community that they have built is the most beautiful aspect of it all. They are friends with everyone, maybe not the best of friends, but they can work with and find commonalities with everyone in our class. They welcome new students and appreciate everyone for who they are.

My Project

I work at a school for the arts and our students are amazing artists! However, we only have 3 black markers that aren't dried up. "I'm drawing a picture of Darth Vader and all the black markers are dried up." This is a frequent concern in our class and it would be nice to give the class a new set of fresh markers. Don't worry, we turn all of the old markers into watercolors so they do not go to waste. So you are really funding two different art mediums: watercolor and colored pencils/markers.

An alternative way to learn is through the arts, at our school our students are allowed to express their learning through drawings, paintings, sculpture, crafts, etc.

This targets both sides of their brains by getting their creative brain working alongside their analytical brain.

We have some amazing artists at our school and they are so dedicated to their craft. They are getting commissioned for their art now which is really exciting! Please help them by giving them the basic tools to manage their craft.
