My Project
My students are resilient, creative, curious, funny, and hard-working 3-5 year-olds who attend Pre-K at a Washington, DC public school. Our full-time classroom is part of an elementary school in a neighborhood where most students are considered to be "at-risk", determined based on socioeconomic needs. My students have been diagnosed with autism or other communication related disabilities. Regardless of these labels, my students consistently prove what is possible with hard work and dedication.
In our Pre-K classroom, we explore the world around us through thematic studies that spark students' imaginations and build foundational skills.
This year, we are diving into a clothing themed study, and I am seeking engaging books and materials to bring this topic to life. The clothing theme offers a fantastic opportunity to explore concepts like colors, patterns, textures, and even community helpers who wear specific uniforms. With your support, I can provide my students with a variety of picture books, pretend play materials, and dress-up clothes that will encourage dramatic play, foster literacy, and support fine motor development.
