Help me give my students a more playful house area. The pretend play clothing will allow for my students to use language and imagination all while engaging in meaningful play.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I co-teach an inclusive preschool classroom and all of my students regardless of their abilities are brilliant, hard-working, unique, and capable of learning. The children in my classroom range in their eligibilities from speech delays, Autism, intellectually disabilities, traumatic brain injury and other health impairments. Distance learning has increased the barriers that both typical and children with disabilities face, making it more difficult for equitable learning.
My Project
This project will help my students become more intentional in their play. The costumes will allow for children to use their imagination and current schemas to bring the clothing alive. The students will be able to use various clothing in the dramatic house area and spend hours socializing with their friends.
Dress-up encourages creative thinking and communication skills.
It also helps kids practice language development and their social skills. Playing with another child or adult requires teamwork, cooperation, and sharing. The act of putting on and taking off costumes or outfits also has physical benefits.
