Dressed to Impress!

Help me give my students uniforms to compete in their SkillsUSA student organization's regional and state career and technical competitions.

My Students

My students are 9-12th graders who have chosen to dive into my two-year workforce and career readiness construction and carpentry program as part of their high school education. First-year students are introduced to the construction world, learning everything from employment and communication skills to basic building skills. As second-year students, they continue career readiness skills as they dig deeper into higher-level carpentry skills.

Construction class gives my students time, space, and freedom to explore careers in the trades and develop personal interests in construction-related skills.

My students look forward to spending two hours in my non-traditional class where they can be out of their seats moving around with hands-on learning. As the first female trades teacher in our district, I'm excited to open this opportunity up to all students and am especially excited to help young women feel comfortable and confident learning construction skills.

My Project

Construction and carpentry students are members of a national student organization called SkillsUSA. SkillsUSA empowers my students to become leaders in the classroom and in the community while teaching them to become responsible American citizens.

As part of SkillsUSA, students compete in championships locally to showcase their career and technical talents, as well as their leadership skills.

These competitions require professional, SkillsUSA-approved uniforms. We began building our uniform closet last year, but we are in need of more uniforms to compete at the upcoming regional and state competitions. Without these uniforms, students will not be allowed to compete.

It would be a hardship on most of my students' families to ask them to purchase these additional uniforms. By supporting this project, you will help my students dress for success during their SkillsUSA competitions without imposing additional hardships on their families.
