Dress Up to Learn New Words and Social Skills!

My students need costumes and props to support dramatic play. During this time we grow and develop our language skills as well as increse our ability to get along with others.

My Students

Every child loves to pretend to be a doctor, construction worker, mail carrier and vet. We need a little more to help develop those play opportunities.

Our students are wonderful!

They are ages 3-5 years old with autism, developmental delays, downs syndrome, cerebral palsy, speech impairments, and hearing impairments, as well as, their typically developing peers. We use dramatic play to encourage language.

My Project

We have just received wonderful costumes to use to promote language and social skills in our classroom. What we noticed is our students need more hands on materials to inspire language and play. These wonderful materials will help do this for our students. We are wanting a doctor's kit, construction worker's kit, driving board, fishing kit and mail station to give the kids things to "talk about!" my students will be able to practice future skills while interacting with one another and use their imagination.

The ability to communicate your thoughts and ideas as well as needs and wants is very important in the development of children.

Our students need as much inspiration as we can give them to continue to try to communicate with each other and develop those language skills.
