My Students

My students are an incredible group of kids who deserve the tools necessary to learn about their culture and the culture of their classmates.

They are eager to learn and deserve to be able to identify with the different cultures in their classrooms through clothing.

They come to school every day excited for a new adventure. Living in a high poverty area is not easy. School is a safe haven for many of these children. Being able to have some semblance of order in their life is so important. Knowing that they have their own tools to use and play with is very heartwarming to students.

My Project

Studies show kids learn best when they are in their natural element. What is that exactly? Play! Kids learn through play. For so long we have tried to push so much curriculum into their little minds and forget that they are just littles. I am making it my goal to incorporate play into my classroom to help support and nurture their leaning and bring back the learning we all loved so long ago! By letting my students play I will be able to observe and hear meaningful conversations, let them work through their differences and become the leaders that we need them to be. This starts with play among their peers.
