This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are high school aged children that volunteer their time after school for various activities. They enjoy sports medicine and often times stay after school to help their fellow students with medical care. They also spend time in our school garden, assisting with the daily operations in our school garden and botany lab. These students are hard working, kind and above all else selfless. They are constantly helping others and pushing each other to do more to serve our school community.
My Project
We have created a request for t-shirts and polos for our students. A high percentage of our students are from high poverty homes and as such can not afford the polos and t-shirts that are required for school activities. Students that participate in programs such as physical education, outdoor science labs and even those that choose to eat lunch outside are in need of a clean, dry shirt during the day. The weather at our school can be extremely hot, it is imperative that students have clean, dry clothes to wear during the school day for health and hygiene reasons. By donating to this project, you are helping our students stay healthy and clothed and as a result, they will miss less class time and will be able to focus on learning!
