Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
FA is a school located on the south side of Chicago. We are a title I school, with 99% of students receiving free lunches. My school is comprised of 60% Hispanics and 40% African Americans. I am a 7th & 8th grade teacher who is in dire need of your help. My students are growing into successful and productive citizens. They are funny and are eager learners who love to read and write about solutions they proposed in a problematic community. I see future doctors, lawyers, politicians, comedians, engineers and etc, growing right before me. They have a tender heart and because of situations they are faced with, it can often times cause them to be pessimistic as well as optimistic. They hope for the better and look for the better when often horror stares them in the face.
My kids is what I call them because I want them to know they have people who love them and care about them and want to see them succeed in life.
My kids are brilliant! They deserve as much help as possible, these are the reasons why I am reaching out to you, to help fund some of the projects needed.
My Project
These materials would make a difference in my students' learning and improve their school lives by giving them their own copy of The Fault in Our Stars. One thing my students have experienced over and over again is sharing copies of books or receiving paper copies. I have made so many paper copies of "good reads," due to fact that our school has limited resources. It would feel good to give every student in class their own book. This book will add to my students' library. They'll have the opportunity to read their own book without having to share.
The Brother multifunctional printer will give students an opportunity to print written reports and projects.
