My Students
My students want to make music! There is a lot of untapped talent at our school and I want to give these students a chance to shine.
Our school is in a very low-income district.
We barely have resources such as copy paper. I want to provide my students with a chance to try orchestral strings! I brought my violin to school one day on a whim to show my classes and realized many of my students had never even seen a violin in person! They were so interested - I was inspired to start offering music lessons for free after school. This led me to dream of a high school string quartet..which led me to DonorsChoose.
My Project
Music has the potential to forever change lives. My students have few opportunities to experience fine art and music - I want to give them the opportunity to create beautiful music and inspire others through a High School String Quartet. We have no classical music program, but I want to work with my students after school to teach them the fundamentals. But we need instruments. I know this project can change lives and bring an amazing experience to students year after year.
