Dreaming in TECHnicolor!

My students need Chromebooks to take ownership of their learning. Whole group learning isn't the move anymore, and giving them access to resources in tech is key!

My Students

It's almost 2016, and we teach in the same way that I learned. We spend all our time with paper and pencil activities, while the world is literally programmed at our fingertips. My students need access at their fingertips, just like the world around them. Chromebooks will help us experience science.

My students are eager and energetic every single day, which makes it doubly hard to keep them sitting still and writing boring notes all day long, all the time.

We need to experience science, and the next best thing to actually having lab materials is having the opportunity to have virtual learning experiences that contribute to our understanding of how the world works around us. My students make me laugh every single day, and they always come in asking for hands-on learning experiences. In years past, they haven't always had this opportunity to shine, but they're eager for the opportunity, and I want to bring it to them.

My Project

My students need Chromebooks to access online learning experiences that will allow them to see science at work. Whether it's in stations or all together as a group, my students love anything they can actually see, touch, hear, experience. That's what sticks with them. We often don't have the lab materials we need, but we've had a lot of success with virtual labs and learning experiences. We may not be able to actually see the moon revolve around Earth, but we can surely watch it happen from a distance in a virtual demonstration on these Chromebooks. Such labs help us understand the connections between what we're learning and the world around us.

My students know we don't get much, but they deserve everything and more.

These Chromebooks will not only show them that they have a community rooting for them, but also that they matter, and their education matters. Chromebooks will help them understand the relevance of our work and perhaps pique their interest in STEM for the longer term.
