This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach the silliest and most thoughtful group of TK through second grade students with diverse special needs. My students have specific learning disabilities, autism, and ADHD, which can make learning a challenge, but they have proven they are up to the task! Each student is unique in their own way, but they all have something in common . . . they love to learn! I am constantly blown away by the hard work and effort my students put forth each and every day.
I am passionate about my special education students and firmly believe they deserve the same opportunities as anyone else.
I want to provide as many opportunities and resources as possible to meet their academic and social-emotional needs. In order to do that, we need access to a color printer.
My Project
Are you a visual learner? I am! The majority of my students are visual learners as well. Using color in the classroom is a great way to motivate and engage students in any learning task! Whether students are using their creativity to color an art project just right, using highlighters to make important information pop, or escaping reality in the colorful illustrations of a great book, color plays an important role in the classroom. Printers can be used to print students' hard work, which can be put on display to motivate and excite all learners.
I believe my students can achieve any goal they set their minds to.
Distance learning during a global pandemic has brought a new set of challenges for my primary students with special learning needs. It has been difficult to engage student virtually, and even more difficult to engage students to complete independent tasks from home. Having the ability to print color materials such as take home books, flashcards, and rewards certificates could be just the motivation they need during this difficult time.
An eco printer is beneficial to our class because it uses ink tanks instead of cartridges, which hold more ink and create less waste. It is also less expensive to refill them, which is perfect for a teacher on a budget! It would be so helpful for my students to be able to print their hard work, learning materials for use at home and school, and also colorful and motivating rewards to acknowledge their accomplishments.
