Help me give my students picture books to make learning come alive. The Giving Tree and the book Oh the Places You Go and Caldecott winners have great themes that 5th graders could learn from.

My Students
My students are part of a public school in the state of Illinois. There are around 700 students in the building. The students in this class love to read and enjoy read alouds and getting to read their own novel during school. This class loves to move around and work with buddies during the day, sharing and hearing other students ideas. We are building a community of learners.
5th grade is an exciting time in children's lives.
This is the year where they get to finish up elementary school and look forward to middle school. It is a year of great change academically, socially, and emotionally.
My Project
The picture books will be a first step into getting students to love reading. They will be used to teach 5th-grade concepts like theme, Point of View, Figurative Language, and social/emotional targets, and so much more. I would like my classroom to start participating in a picture book a day movement. This movement centers on getting students interested in reading and using those books to teach the necessary concepts.
Picture books allow students to increase their imagination, become better readers and writers, and work on social/emotional skills.
Picture books give students examples of characters that they can learn from. These books allow students to gather ideas of what it takes to be an author and allows them to use these ideas in their writing.
Picture books have many benefits in the classroom. I desire to give my students a deep love of reading and using picture books to gain their interest is the first step.
