My Students
This year I am teaching a class of 20 creative and talented first-grade scholars at a Title I school in urban North Carolina. We are a Title I school meaning all of the students receive free breakfast and lunch. Even though these students come from low socioeconomic backgrounds they still come to school happy, smiling, bubbly, and ready to learn!
In class, my students are not just kids, they are goal achievers, scientists, leaders, goal-setters, dreamers, readers, and mathematicians.
My students aspire to be policemen, doctors, teachers, firefighters, veterinarians and inventors. They deserve the best education and the best educational supplies to help them be successful first graders so they can make their dreams come true!
My Project
I have a class of 20 students who are all on different reading levels. Each child in my class set a personal goal to grow a certain number of reading levels. With these supplies I will be able to meet the needs of all my students. Although they may not be reading on the same level, all my students can benefit from fluency practice. The fluency cards I am asking for are leveled so students will be able to practice fluency based upon his or her level. I also have a group of students who need to spend time working on sounds. These students will use the teaching reading center, and phonological awareness puzzles with me in a small group. They will be able to learn letter sounds in a fun and engaging way. All students in my class will use the magnetic letters to help them learn spelling patterns in their spelling words. These supplies will make a huge impact on my students and the reading goals they have set for themselves. Your help can make sure all 20 of my students achieve their goals this school year.
