Help me give my students a 3D Printer to bring their imagination to life.
FULLY FUNDED! Mr. Bernstein's classroom raised $745
This project is fully funded
My Students
My students are part of the Academy of Information Technology, a four-year Information technology program. Students learn Introduction to Information Technology (Year 1), Digital Media (Year 2), Web Design (Year 3), and AP Computer Science Principles (Year 4).
We are a STEM / STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics) school.
Currently, the Academy of IT has just under 200 students in grades 9-12. More than half of my students are from low-income households. My classroom infuses STEM / STEAM into the curriculum to allow students to have cross-curriculum instruction that incorporates their core subject areas.
My Project
My students love creating 3D models and printing them with our classroom 3D Printer. The more my students learn the bigger their designs get. We are asking for another 3D printing so we can give more students the opportunity to print their 3D models and have a bigger canvas to print.
Hands-on Learning is so important for student growth and learning.
My students love coming to class and getting to learn and play with technology.
With this 3D Printer, it will help to create a maker space type of classroom in which students can interact with the latest technology and learn in a fun way. We got our idea for the 3D printer from Ms. Boyd's project for the IF/THEN campaign "3d Printer Needed for Community Service Project"
Using the instructional videos that are presented on the IF/THEN collection, students will learn what a 3D printer is and what other students in STEM are using their 3D printers to change the world.
The two resources that we will use from the IF/THEN collection are "Demystifying 3D Printing" and "Mission Unstoppable: If/Then 3D Statue Exhibit (4:32)"
With this 3D Printer, it will allow students to be engaged in 3D printing activities and explore how 3D printing is used across STEM careers to solve problems. It is important to show students that STEM careers are in high demand and to promote diversity within the STEM field.
