Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am teaching 18 amazing 7th and 8th graders this year. All of my students are newcomers. They have proven to be resilient and work tirelessly going above and beyond to learn and grow. They are learning to embrace the new language and culture while preserving their native tongue and traditions.

This year they will continue to learn to read in English while also reading classics and great literature in their native language.

Through your generosity I am hoping to provide my students with a wide selection of books from a variety of genres that will help them develop language skills and profoundly expand their vocabulary. I will be able to build a classroom library that will help support my bilingual students continue to learn to read, write and speak English and Spanish.

Students will read classic books in the classroom and at home in their native language while learning skills, strategies and themes covered in the current curriculum.
