This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My class of second-grade students are thoughtful and caring. Our school, situated in Providence, Rhode Island, has culturally diverse students, English Language Learners, and students with special needs. During the COVID-19 pandemic, my students are adjusting well and thriving in the midst of this new normal. This year will be a productive and memorable school year. We strive to create a safe and nurturing school so students are happy, proud of who they are, and feel welcomed. We work as a team to succeed.

Our school gives students many wonderful opportunities to develop their creativity, knowledge, skills, and talents.

My Project

All of these art supplies will add excitement to learning, and using art can be an outlet for self-expression and social-emotional learning. My students love drawing, coloring, and building while listening to positive, upbeat music. Having new art materials (paint, brushes, dot art painters, markers) will boost happiness as they have fun incorporating art into literacy projects. Students will be excited to decorate their I ❤school pencil cases with craft supplies, paint, or markers. My budding authors/illustrators will use the blank softcover books to write and publish their own stories. The word games will help to build literacy skills while having fun. With an assortment of new art supplies, students will make special artwork and rock art with positive messages for friends and family. Watching my students dream big and create their own masterpieces is rewarding. We love to display student artwork around the classroom and school to nurture a positive school climate.
