My Project

My students are diverse, energetic, and incredibly resilient group of learners. They are tiny explorers at the very beginning of their academic journey. In our classroom, every day is a ‘big’ day filled with the magic of discovering letters and sounds. These four and five-year-olds are incredibly hands-on; they learn best when they can touch, move, and create. For many, school is the primary place where they have access to organized learning materials. They are eager to ‘write’ like the big kids, and they show immense pride when they can finally trace a letter or draw a picture that tells a story about their family.

In Pre-K, literacy begins with fine motor development.

Using the crayons and pencils allows my students to develop the ‘tripod grip’ and hand strength necessary for future writing. These supplies will be used daily in our ‘Writing Center,’ where students will move from scribbling to intentional letter formation. Markers add a sensory, high-contrast element that makes letter-tracing exciting and accessible for visual learners. By providing these tools, you are helping my students transition from ‘drawing’ a story to ‘writing’ one, ensuring they head to Kindergarten with the confidence and physical skills they need to succeed.
