Draw to Today, Write Tomorrow.

Help me give my students the tools to literally become exceptional writers. The triangular shaped crayons, pencils and poster board will give them the opportunity to write, draw and paint on a large and colorful scale.

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As a Bilingual Special Education teacher, I am expected to deliver the Texas TEKS in a way that is accessible to every type of learner: a sensory, a visual, a kinesthetic, or an auditory learner. Every one of my students qualifies as a student with speech impairment, although some have additional qualifying disabilities as well.

Each student brings an individual power to the table and it is a privilege to witness the possibilities as each one happily engages in the learning environment despite his or her individual challenge.

My Project

Young writers begin by doodling their ideas. The interest of colors, shapes and textures on a large scale is developmentally appropriate for the budding writer.

Each item was specifically chosen with the intent to engage the early writer.

The colorful triangular shaped crayons and pencils will attract the interest and curiosity of each of my students. This will hopefully translate in to each student expressing their individual thoughts via drawing, early writing, and letter and sound recognition.

As we read different stories I would like each student to be able to illustrate and write what they found the most interesting about each story. The large poster board will give each student a large enough canvas that will encourage them to continue drawing, writing or expressing in a manner appropriate for their developmental age.
