Help me give my students the opportunity to learn to draw and paint. My students are in need of paper, crayons, and markers to start their art classes this new school year.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
“The arts are an essential element of education, just like reading, writing, and arithmetic…music, dance, painting, and theater are all keys that unlock profound human understanding and accomplishment.” ~William Bennett, Former US Secretary of Education.
All my students are bright, intelligent, curious, and very interested in learning about Visual Arts.
My students are one hundred children from the English-Spanish Bilingual Program and thirty students are from Special Education. My students are students from Kindergarten 1 to 2nd grade. Almost all of my students come from low-income households.
The families of my students are from Central America, Haiti, Brazil, Colombia, Morocco, or the United States. Almost all of my students were born in Boston, MA. My students are learning to write and read in Spanish and English. They love to draw, paint, and build paper sculptures. They are happy when they have art supplies and make great art activities. In these difficult times, my students' parents lost their jobs and cannot afford to buy art supplies because they are concerned about obtaining food.
My Project
My little new students from ABA, ESD K0, K1, and Bilingual Program K2, will start to learn to draw and paint this new school year. It's very important to learn to draw and paint for kids because it enhances our students' motor skills.
From a small scribble to a masterpiece that takes pride of place on the fridge, drawing can enhance our student's motor skills from a young age.
Starting them as early as possible will help them improve their hand and eye coordination while fine-tuning their finger muscles.
With your generosity and support, my students will have the opportunity to begin in this marvelous art world.
Every paper, crayon, and marker will be well used for this purpose which is to learn to draw and paint.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
