This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We strive to show our students that the only limits are the ones you put in front of yourself. Our school is found in East Los Angeles in a low-income neighborhood. Our school is 98% Hispanic/Latino, and 94% socioeconomically disadvantaged. What makes my students so special is that they wake up every day and come to school ready to learn, despite what the world and media is telling them about themselves, and despite the hardships of where they come from. Our school always wants to provide the best for our students but being in the low-income area that we are, funds are always limited. It is the generous and kindhearted people in this world who keep my students and I motivated to learn, share, and be college bound!

My Project

The use of a large whiteboard will engage students to see an outline written out, drawings and math problems. The use of a whiteboard will be useful for visual learners. Whiteboards allow students to quickly write, erase, and rewrite what they’re working on and give them a larger space to work out ideas. Practicing math equations during class time, lunch or after school will help them for their test.

Whiteboards support student collaboration and brainstorming.

The whiteboard will allow me to see exactly what my students are doing and provide an easy place for them to show and share their work.
