Dramatic Play Needs More Drama!

My students need a new kitchen set for our Dramatic Play center. Our current set is 30 years old and falling apart! The children will learn many skills, such as taking turns, math skills, and early literacy skills by roll-playing and making up stories to act out.

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our playhouse is falling apart! Our preschoolers love to play in our kitchen - pretending to be mom and dad, making dinner or acting out a restaurant scene. However, our play kitchen is at least 30 years old and falling apart! It is now a danger to our students and we would love to replace it!

Our preschool program serves low income students from ages three to five.

We have a total of 48 students in our room, 24 in the morning and 24 in the afternoon. For many of our students, English is their second language. This is the first school experience for our students and we are geared to preparing them for Kindergarten next year. Our students are excited about learning, they love new experiences and they love creating!

My Project

The item we are requesting is a new kitchen center. It gives our students "maximum play value in minimum space!" Our room is pretty small, so this "Pretend and Play Kitchen Combo" fits in our Dramatic Play area perfectly. It has everything you could need in a kitchen, refrigerator, microwave, oven, sink and even storage space for dishes and food! It is extremely safe for our students, with magnetic door closures and safety hinges. It is also in great, bright colors to liven up our space!

The Dramatic Play center is an integral part of our preschool classroom.

In it, the children learn many skills, such as taking turns, math skills such as classification and sorting, early literacy skills by roll playing and making up stories to act out. We would love to use this center more often, but need it to also be a safe place for our students to play. Our fabulous preschoolers thank you for your help!
