This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I teach a bright, curious, and energetic group of kindergartners who thrive when learning feels hands-on, meaningful, and fun. Many of my students are learning English as a second language and benefit deeply from opportunities to build language skills through play. Dramatic play is one of the most powerful ways young children develop language, communication, and social skills—especially when it includes opportunities to take on roles, solve problems, and collaborate with peers.

This project will give my students a variety of new materials to support language-rich, imaginative play.

The multiethnic doll set, poseable baby doll, and doll bottles will allow students to practice nurturing behaviors and expressive language in caregiving scenarios. The pizza party set, play kitchen, and working toy cash register will spark conversations, role-play, and real-world vocabulary practice. The royal kingdom castle inspires storytelling and dialogue between characters. To support fine motor development and sensory needs, I’ve also included Play-Doh, ice cream stacking sets, and a fidget toy pack. These materials aren’t just fun — they help my students build important skills like coordination, focus, and early math, all while playing and communicating with others.

My goal is to create a classroom environment where all students — especially those developing their English skills — feel confident to speak, imagine, and connect with others. These items will turn our dramatic play area into a rich, inclusive learning space where students can grow academically, socially, and emotionally.
