The best thing about teaching very young children is watching the daily magic they make in imaginative play. Wherever there are four and five-year-olds, there's a whole world being created out of even the most common surroundings.
When kids come together in the dramatic play center in our classroom, their imaginative powers combine to enrich their skills of collaboration and language development.
As they imagine and improvise narratives together, they're laying the groundwork for reading comprehension.
The items in this grant will help me offer enticing invitations for kids to join together in collaborative, dramatic play. As they heal pets in the vet office, write and deliver mail, and scoop pretend ice cream treats, they'll be making that special magic that purposeful play never fails to conjure!
