My students need a kitchen and play food assortment for our dramatic play area. I want to provide my young students a place in the classroom to explore pretend play.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students come in ready to learn and explore every day. It is important for me to provide age appropriate centers for them to learn and play. Having a dramatic play area for them will help them use their imagination as well as learn how to share and interact with one another.
My Transitional Kindergarten students are the youngest kinder students we have in our school.
Transitional Kindergarten is the first year of a two year kinder program. They are students who turn 5 between September 2-December 2. For many of my students, this is their first school experience. My students attend a Title One School and come from a low social-economic background. Many students receive free or reduced lunch. A dramatic play area will benefit my students by allowing them to use their imaginations and pretend will playing in the kitchen and using assorted foods.
My Project
My students will use these materials to explore and play in the dramatic play area where they will develop their social/oral skills as well as teach them how to share with one another. The food group baskets will allow me to teach my students nutritional concepts of food that are healthy and not so healthy for our bodies.
My students love to use their imagination!
By donating to our class project, my TK students will be able to go to the dramatic play area and use their imagination to develop oral and social skills that will enhance their cognitive development in a classroom setting.
