My students need a new dramatic play kitchen, utensils, and food set. My students need to be able to relate these items to real life items they use daily.
On a typical day in my classroom, we start off with laughter and daily centers. My students this year are mostly non-verbal. This is our biggest challenge. We use picture cards and technology to be able to communicate with one another.
My students are all autistic, ranging in age from 3-5.
We are at a Title 1, low-come school. Our school is very supportive of all of the families at our school. We all have one common goal in mind - do what is best for the students. Our kids are so great, and are always willing to learn new things. They are very curious when it comes to new items in the classroom.
My Project
With the items that I have requested for my classroom, my students will benefit so they can use their pretend skills, they can cook and make new foods, and they can use the utensils to do so. The students will be able to also do many activities with the food such as sorting by food, colors, and much more! The students have a used, broken kitchen set, and I would love to get a new one for them!
The donation would make a difference by allowing the students to have a new, working kitchen set.
The students will be able to use the utensils and food to use their pretend skills to cook. The students' favorite center in the classroom is dramatic play, so this will forever leave them happy!
