This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My preschool students are children who are three to five years of age. My school is in sunny San Pedro, California. The children from San Pedro come to school each morning ready to learn and grow. There's never a dull moment in our class; my students are busy bees moving from one interest area to another. They're eager to learn, explore, engage and experiment with the instructional materials and centers I set up for them. Every single one of my students deserves a fair chance at having his or her potential nurtured and fully developed. My little ones have an insatiable curiosity, that's why it's important for me to have a class with a variety of instructional materials to meet their educational needs.
My Project
Dramatic Play is an integral part of the developmental learning process by allowing children to develop skills in such areas as abstract thinking, literacy, math, and social studies, in a timely , natural manner.
My students love participating in dramatic play and dressing up with costumes, with the Multi-Ethnic Ceremonial Costumes my students will have the opportunity to explore and dress up in clothes that other people in the world wear, this will promote cultural diversity and inclusion.
Furthermore, dressing up with the costumes and engaging in dramatic play my students will have the opportunity to engage in social interactions with each other. Through conversation in their dramatic play sequences they will be speaking, listening, asking and answering questions to each other fostering relationship skills, language, communication development, new vocabulary, tolerance and inclusion.
