This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are very diverse, extremely creative, and always eager to learn theatre. This year, I am requesting organizational materials and comfortable seating so that student work and instructional materials are easily accessible and promote a sense of order and efficiency so that more learning can happen. We spend the majority of time on our feet, so there are no desks or chairs in the classroom. Comfortable seating encourages focus, and eliminates distractions caused by physical discomfort of being on the floor and also gives students choices to sit where they feel most productive. The comfortable seating will provide students with flexible options for how and where they work, supporting focus, collaboration, and creativity. When students feel physically comfortable, they’re more likely to stay engaged and take ownership of their learning. The resources in this project will transform my classroom into a more organized, welcoming, and student centered environment. The file cabinets and shelves will allow student work to be stored in a neat and accessible way, helping us stay organized and students can focus more on learning. The theatre decor masks will create an exciting, immersive environment that inspires creativity in the students. The decor will help set the stage- literally and figuratively- for students to feel like they are a part of something special each time they walk into class.
