Drama Circle: Broken Rug, Ripped to Trip

Help me give my students a carpet to organize our space in the drama classroom. Our current carpet is falling apart and we need a clean secure new one for circle time.

My Students

My Chicago Students are the best; hands down. My kids enjoy challenging the status quo with courage, awareness, integrity, and commitment. It is these qualities that our kids chose to live up to at the beginning of the year.

My students come from the neighborhood surrounding our school as well as neighborhoods further away due to school closings.

That being said, many students were displaced from their homes a few years ago due to the project housing towers around the school being torn down.

The kids LOVE to have their voices heard in many different ways, including spoken word/poetry and creative nonfiction writing.

My Project

I teach drama to over 750 students. I'm in a regular classroom and have to section off the space to accomplish different activities for different grade levels. I have an extremely large rug that was made for the class, but the rug has been ripped in several places and is worn. Students are beginning to trip while playing drama games which is a safety hazard.

This carpet is oval which lends itself to community building for drama class.

Also, there are sections so I wouldn't have to purchase sit spots for our assigned seating. This is a first step in refurnishing a drama room for more positive community building, social emotional learning, and creativity.
