Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach 32 second graders in a 114 year old building in a high need Chicago Public School.
This year I have been challenged with 7 non-readers who have no sight word vocabulary, lack phonemic awareness, have difficulty focusing on print and may or may not have learning disabilities.
I began reading my granddaughter's easiest Dr. Seuss books aloud to these children and my nonreaders asked for them again, and again. One of my girls can already read "Ten Apples Up On Top!"
If you could please help me, a collection of Dr. Seuss books will inspire these learners to focus on fascinating stories and take the initiative to read on their own.
