This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Oobleck is exciting for students! They don't know what it is or why it behaves the way it does. This project will allow my high school students to celebrate Dr. Seuss' birthday with the local elementary students by bringing them a little science exploration- and what student doesn't love that?

I teach an amazing group of 10th grade students in a high poverty area of downtown Los Angeles.

Last year, we celebrated Dr. Seuss' birthday in style! Our high school students coordinated all the activities we brought to the local elementary students. The culinary students served green eggs and ham. The drama students put on a Cat and the Hat mini-play. The book club read stories to the elementary students. And my science students helped the kids make Oobleck!

My Project

To make Dr. Seuss' birthday a success this year we need help with the materials to make the Oobleck including Elmer's glue and borate. We also need plastic bags so the students can take the oobleck home and gloves to keep the mess under control. With our copies of the Dr. Seuss book "Bartholomew and the Oobleck," we can incorporate literacy into our part of the celebration as well.

This was an amazing success last year and without your support I do not know how we will get the materials we need to help make it happen again.
