This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are hard-working and dedicated young ladies and gentlemen. They come from an urban district where funds and materials are hard to come by. However, our students continuously impress me and the community in the success in the classroom and in athletics. We have several sports teams that consistently win conference championships each year, and we also have several students play at the next level each year. Every few years we do have special athletes that get scholarships to play at the college level.

My Project

Donations for this project will benefit both our boys and girls basketball teams by allowing us to purchase a Dr. Dish shot trainer and will be used at practice daily. Hopefully, better equipment will encourage and inspire our kids to work harder and dedicate themselves to being champions. The students and coaches have been asking for a shot trainer for several years and we just haven't had the money in our budget for it.

Getting this shot trainer for our basketball programs will go a long way in leveling the playing field as the surrounding schools we play have several of these shot trainers and it shows.

Speaking to my coaches they already have several different drills they have been waiting to run with this equipment. Additionally, our students and parents are often jealous when they go to other schools and see teams with better equipment and nicer facilities than our school. While I can not get our students a brand new facility for them yet, I feel that getting the equipment is within reach with a little help and support.
