My Project
My students are eager learners and have great collaborative conversations. As I was thinking about what is around the school in our environment that we could learn more about, it hit me, the stream! I once took a teacher science class that I loved so much, because it was hands on and so interesting. We got in a stream and waded around and discovered all kinds of things. I want to take my students outside and give them the same kind of memorable experience that I had.
The kids will learn to use dichotomous keys to identify plants that are indigenous to the area.
They will learn to look closely at things around them and figure out if they are native to the area or how they got there. My students will keep scientific journals of their findings with sketches and lab notes.
Who knows, we might even find some critters in or by the stream too!
