My Students

For many little ones, the process of learning to read can be quite a challenge. For some, this process can be discouraging. By giving students access to fun, interactive phonics activities, they are able to face this challenge with positivity and determination.

My classroom is filled with energetic and fun-loving Kindergarteners!

They meet each new challenge with excitement, determination, and tenacity. We are located in a high-poverty area of Florida, with over 90% of students receiving Free and Reduced Lunch.

My Project

While my classroom is filled with eager little learners, they do not have access to many materials that will meet their needs. Most materials required to assist students in learning to read are either nonexistent or heavily used. In particular, we do not have fun materials for students to use during reading centers. My students need Play dough, alphabet stampers, dough building cards and craft trays for word work time. By giving students access play dough and accompanying tools such as letter building cards and alphabet stampers, their reading and writing skills will soar! If they are provided with phonics activities and games in the center, they will learn the basics while developing a love of reading!

Kindergarten is such a magical grade!

These little ones' minds, bodies, and hearts are growing in leaps and bounds! While a good year would result in all of my students becoming successful readers, a GREAT year would be if they developed a passion and love for reading too!
