My Students
My students are diverse learners in a self-contained K-2 special education classroom. Each child is a unique child with many wonderful qualities. Each child also requires an individualized learning experience to promote success. In our classroom, the students rely on a significantly modified curriculum that is also aligned to their grade level curriculum. They rely heavily on visual supports, materials for hands on learning, routines and a classroom with a variety of areas to meet all their individual needs. Our students seek a great deal of sensory opportunities throughout the day. They benefit from daily implementation of behavioral and social skill activities. They are all eager to learn and do best when the classroom is designed to meet their needs.
My Project
Our students require an interactive approach to learning. Remote learning at home has been a challenge due to the need for ample technology, not only to teach but also to monitor student participation and responses during virtual lessons. We are often teaching on the same screen while also trying to view student participation, interactions on the live meetings and student responses on other interactive platforms. It is important to be able to view both the students on screen and virtual responses more effectively for more prompt and immediate feedback. Switching between multiple tabs can cause a delay in support and feedback. Having a second monitor would greatly help to provide more structured instruction but also ample feedback for student responses.
