This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Fourth graders at ACA are forever learners, creative innovators, and intelligent problem solvers. Their learning relies on the consistent combination of background knowledge and complex text. Books help kids develop basic language skills and profoundly expand their vocabulary. They support a better understanding of topics and demand readers to think critically.
When my Scholars interact with their books by fully engaging and critically thinking as they read, they are learning the way they deserve to learn.
In the last six years, I've seen my kids grown deeply in love with learning, through reading!
My Project
My school is departmentalizing for the first time, meaning I will be teaching ELA to all fourth graders at my school. Going from a self-contained classroom teaching all the subjects for one class, to departments teaching ELA to all kids in the grade, my classroom library is not dense enough to support all fourth graders at my school. Please help me double my current library, for double the kids reading in it! Reading is the key to success. My Scholars deserve to feel successful. Here is your chance to invest in them.
I believe in my scholars' ability to change this world, and you should too.
