My students need at least 2 sets of the Dash and Dot Robot Wonder in grades PreK- 1st. We are learning the basics of coding, and these robots would keep the motivation alive.
Imagine walking into a school and seeing students face light up, like they just won a trip to Disney. Well, this is definitely the reaction that you would see from my students.
Our school is Title I with all students that receive free breakfast and lunch.
The age range is from 4 to 11 years old. Many of our children live a very stressful life, partially due to low income and everyday happenings. It is a shame that at such an early age, they have to see and witness so much loss.
My Project
In our school, we are limited to materials in the technology department. However, I try to implement every day items to teach my students. My current lessons in the lower and upper grades are geared towards coding. For the lower grades, we have been using everything from fruit loops to beads.
Imagine introducing "Dot and Dash" to our learning?
Students learning first hand coding with an interactive robot! How great would that be?
It is a crucial part of my teaching ethics to keep my children motivated while learning. By having Dot and Dash as part of our daily lessons, I foresee great things happening. Thinking outside the box, taking an extra step or even creating their own robot!
