This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
We teach our students to dream big and this care package is just one way we can support students in their big dreams! The students who will benefit from this project come from a low socioeconomic status. Due to the current climate, students are experiencing higher levels of stress and frustration as a result of many factors, one being the impact this pandemic has had on the economy. Life after high school is daunting enough without the fear of wondering how they can afford to support their dreams and ambitions. This is one less worry they will have to have!
The students are the first to attend college in their families.
I couldn't be more proud of them! I know they have a lot of fears and trepidation surrounding their commitments; so this care package is just one way to continue to support them in their post-graduation plans. Thank you for any help.
My Project
These materials will benefit a student who has plans to attend college. Graduating high school, while exciting, can be scary. Post-secondary plans come with a large price tag. This care package will, hopefully, offer some relief for this student and her family as she attends Rowan University in the fall.
The student who will be receiving this care package is from a financially disadvantaged family who now, more so than ever (due to the effect the pandemic has had on the economy) could use the help getting started and settled in her post-secondary plans.
With many families unable to work, buying everyday necessities, never mind college supplies, is very daunting. This care package consists of basic dorm room bedding supplies, desk lamp, and mini-fridge. These supplies will help take the burden off this family and help this student get started and settled into her life after high school! Many of our students go to their dorms with nothing. I don't want that to happen to her. Thank you for any help, it is much appreciated.
