My students need six 3-D doodle pens for applications in their Chemistry class, creating science fair engineering projects, and their 3-D sculpture and design classes.

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach Chemistry to a diverse group of artistic students at a Title I visual and performing arts school in downtown Los Angeles. Students come to our school from all over the city to our public high school to receive a top notch education in both academics and their chosen art form (music, dance, visual or theater) and go on to study at some of the top academic colleges and art schools across the country. When my students start reading about all of the chemicals they come into contact with everyday, they are surprised, curious, and eager to learn more!
I am always looking for ways to motivate my students in my classroom with innovative and exciting learning opportunities.
My Project
If you had told me 20 years ago that students would have the ability to draw in 3-dimensional space, I'm not sure I would have believed you. But yet, here we are! I am requesting these 3-D doodling pens for our artists to utilize in a variety of ways in our classroom.
With the requested 3-D Doodling pens, my students will be able to demonstrate their Chemistry knowledge artistically, create 3-D engineering designs for Science Fair projects, and create unique sculpture designs in their art classes.
First, in my Chemistry class students are asked to demonstrate their knowledge artistically. At the end of a topic they are typically asked to create an art piece. With these pens, they can utilize technology in their work. Secondly, in our annual Science Fair there is a category for Engineering Design. These pens will allow students to be competitive at the district and state level with our students. Lastly, many of my students are in the Visual Arts academy and take 3-D Sculpture and Design as one of their courses. With these pens I could collaborate with the Sculpture teacher to infuse science into their arts curriculum.
Thank you for your consideration of supporting this exciting project!
