Doodle My Thoughts

My Students

Our school is a public PreK-8th grade school with a population of five hundred students. We're located in an urban area. All of our students are considered at-risk and they all receive free lunch. We also have five, special needs classes in our building.

While the area around the school is filled with vacant lots, abandoned homes, buildings, and cars, our students enter the building ready and eager to learn.

Most of them encounter challenges with having basic needs in life, but many do not succumb to feelings of hopelessness nor anger. Instead, they try their best in all that they do.

My Project

The Doodle boards will help my students write down their thoughts and exchange boards without mistakenly erasing them.

The doodle boards will help make the student's environment look more mature during instructional time in a special needs classroom as oppose to the dry erase boards that are used in the lower grade classrooms.

The boards will also, give them more motivation to participate during math by writing and solving problems on their boards. The doodle boards will also, allow them to do quick drawings to go with their writing during literacy instruction.
