Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, and life to everything." said Plato. This is my favorite music phrase to understand and celebrate cultures from around the world. Music is the universal language that unites us all as human beings.

My students are smart, driven, and very verbal.

They are 100% Hispanic. Most of them do not have a computer or other technology at home. Our school provides a safe environment away from gangs and other socioeconomic limitations. They are exposed to violence and socioeconomic limitations, like lack of food, that others take for granted. In my classroom, they get to dream, the sky is the limit. They've planned future traveling plans, designed their dream homes, and have become celebrated community heroes. The classroom is a safe haven where dreaming high is encouraged. Nothing is impossible when they dream, write, and share their future plans. They are enthusiastic learners because they are provided with the hands-on experiences and activities that at home are simply unattainable.

My Project

My students enjoy learning about words that rhyme while using hand movements. This leads me to think that I can help the struggling readers by exposing them to lyrics of their favorite songs & chants. Their low self-esteems need a boost & the resources for this project would provide them a choice of catchy songs like in the CD collection of songs that include Science, World-Social Studies, Multiplication-Math. Also a JBL Speaker Dock & a wireless speaker to play music will make them feel better about who they are through song and movement. "Music" is a magical gift we must nourish and cultivate in our children, especially now as scientific evidence proves that an education in the arts makes better math & science students, enhances spatial intelligence in newborns and let's not forget that the arts are a compelling solution to teen violence. My students will have the choice to listen to their favorite tunes, chants and songs at any time of the day in the iPod duck in a listening center

I need your generosity, to help me teach grammar, math, and science though music.

All academic subjects are so important but music will feed my students' soul and thus, improving my students' future as scholars. These materials will put them on a path of a love for grammar, math, and science. With your help they can aspire to be future mathematicians, professors, doctors, chemists, or astronauts! With your help we can help achieve academic success.
