My Students
My students work hard every day to gain the skills they need for fourth grade and beyond. We meet each morning and afternoon at the carpet for short lessons before I turn them loose to read, write, and practice their new skills.
My students are eager fourth graders.
They are learning to explore book series and favorite authors, they love to imagine and play, and they know that fourth grade will be challenging and fun. They believe that they can accomplish great things and I agree with them.
Our school is an International Baccalaureate public school in an urban school district. We use inquiry-based instruction to engage our students and we have a very vibrant and supportive neighborhood and school community.
My Project
My students will benefit from having book bins so that we can keep our growing library well-organized. With sturdy bins, books stay in better condition and are available and more appealing to students. Fourth graders read at so many levels! I feel that it is so important always to have plenty of appealing books for every taste and level, if I can.
Chart paper is used to create posters so that students can refer to our lessons as they work. The easel has a white board, to expand the limited board space in our "vintage" school. The students and I will appreciate the flexibility a new white board will provide. Students can work on the board during math and I can use the easel and board during instructional time.
These classroom supplies will make my classroom more flexible, appealing, and useful.
My students will be able easily to access their favorite book series and authors, and the students and I will benefit from a movable easel and white board for working on math, reading, and writing in the intimacy of the carpet area.
