This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Food can be interlinked with trauma in children who have experienced neglect or have gone hungry, especially because of Covid. I want to provide a feeling of safety and emotional health in regard to food. I am continuously restocking our breakfast/lunch/snack pantry to make sure students know their physical needs will always be met.

When children eat regularly scheduled nutritious snacks and meals, blood sugar levels remain constant which allows for the optimal opportunity for learning and regulating behavior.

My breakfast/lunch/snack pantry is open to students in need-no questions asked. If they come in late to school and need breakfast, it will be there. If they forget their lunch, it will be there. If they need a snack or forget theirs at home, it will be open to them! Please help my students always have enough to eat and never experience hunger when at school. Social-emotional learning is very important for my students.
