This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
We have over one hundred students who stay in our after school program or participate in clubs until 6 p.m. because their parents work late. I've noticed that some of these students are often hungry. Sometimes as I walk out of work, they ask me if I have snacks for them.
The goal of this project is to provide students with snacks, like Fruit bars, granola bars, crackers, and cookies, when they need them.
When they receive these snacks, they will know that their basic needs are important to people and they are cared for.
Our students are special because they trust us enough to ask for what they need. They view the school community as a resource, and that is important for us as we aim to meet all their basic needs to ensure they can focus on learning without feeling hungry.
